Fiction Uncovered is supported by retailers and other literary organisations. In-store and online promotions run alongside the Fiction Uncovered PR and marketing campaign and website activity, and reading groups and libraries across the UK get on board. Supporters in 2013 include:
Kobo, a global leader in eReading, has donated eight Kobo Glo eReaders as gifts to the eight selected authors to be presented on 16 May 2013. In addition, Kobo will feature the eight Fiction Uncovered titles on its eBookstore at Kobo.com.
Nudge – the new book discovery website and app selling titles on the iBookstore – will be hosting specially recorded video content relating to all eight selected titles as well as featuring the eight book titles in the Nudge Weekly e-mail to its 8,000+ subscribers. Over 12,500 keen readers have now downloaded the Nudge app.
Fiction Uncovered is working this year for the first time with NetGalley, where international book reviewers, bloggers, librarians, booksellers and other professional readers can request digital access to a selection of this year’s Fiction Uncovered titles.
Bookseller of the Year 2013 Foyles showcases the eight Fiction Uncovered titles with special features online and in the Foyles quarterly newsletter, not to mention the huge Fiction Uncovered window display in its flagship store on Charing Cross Road from 16 May 2013 for two weeks.
Fiction Uncovered continues to work closely with Indie Bound and the Independent Booksellers Forum. The Independent Booksellers Forum is the BA’s independent booksellers group. It exists to bring independent booksellers together across the UK, to facilitate the exchange of best practice and the sharing of ideas and experience. Fiction Uncovered is offering a prize this year of a Fortnum & Mason hamper, to be awarded to the Independent Retailer that creates the best Fiction Uncovered window – with the winners to be announced during Independent Booksellers Week 2013.
The eight shortlisted Fiction Uncovered titles are featured on the iBookstore. The Fiction Uncovered FM podcasts are also available on iTunes and feature links directly to the titles on the iBookstore.
The Reading Agency is an independent charity working to inspire more people to read more. It has close links with the public library service, and also works with schools, adult learning providers, prisons, workplaces, publishers, broadcasters and others. The Reading Agency is getting reading groups and libraries around the country involved in Fiction Uncovered.
The IPG (Independent Publishers Guild) supports around 480 members who make enormous contributions to creative excellence and innovation in the UK. The IPG is supporting Fiction Uncovered and will be helping to communicate news of the promotion to its members ensuring that the promotion receives as many submissions as possible from independent publishers.
Fiction Uncovered partnered with www.lovereading.co.uk to reach its 200,000+ members. Fiction Uncovered features on the site as a special ‘category’, alongside the major literary prizes, with information about each of the eight selected titles.
Fiction Uncovered works with www.localbookshops.co.uk to reach independent booksellers using the www.localbookshops.co.uk directory/portal site.
This service, developed by The Book Partnership, will help to communicate news of the Fiction Uncovered promotion to its 900+ bricks-and-mortar independent bookselling members.
