Fiction Uncovered had strong support for its first year from major UK retailers keen to promote our best writers. In-store and online promotions ran alongside the Fiction Uncovered PR and marketing campaign and website activity, and reading groups and libraries across the UK got on board, working with the support of The Reading Agency. Fiction Uncovered will be announcing news of its 2012 partnerships soon.

We’re delighted that Waterstone’s supported Fiction Uncovered as the official online retail partner in 2011. All books featured on this website are available to buy via; and from May 2011 the eight selected titles were available in all Waterstone’s stores nationwide.

Fiction Uncovered worked with Apple’s iBookstore to promote eight shortlisted titles when the inaugural selection is announced on 19 May 2011. iBookstore is included in the free iBooks app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

The Reading Agency is an independent charity working to inspire more people to read more. It has close links with the public library service, and also works with schools, adult learning providers, prisons, workplaces, publishers, broadcasters and others. The Reading Agency is getting reading groups around the country involved in Fiction Uncovered. Bookseller of the Year 2010 Foyles showcased the eight Fiction Uncovered titles across all its stores, including instore promotions, special features online and in the Foyles quarterly newsletter, and a huge Fiction Uncovered window display in its flagship store on Charing Cross Road.

The Book Depository supported Fiction Uncovered by featuring the eight selected titles on its website, contributing editorial to the Fiction Uncovered website and updating its customers about Fiction Uncovered via its weekly e-newsletter and regular blog.

The IPG (Independent Publishers Guild) supports around 480 members who make enormous contributions to creative excellence and innovation in the UK. The IPG is supporting Fiction Uncovered and will be helping to communicate news of the promotion to its members ensuring that the promotion receives as many submissions as possible from independent publishers.

Fiction Uncovered partnered with to reach its 200,000+ members. Fiction Uncovered features on the site as a special ‘category’, alongside the major literary prizes, with information about each of the eight selected titles.


Fiction Uncovered works with to reach independent booksellers using the directory/portal site. This service, developed by The Book Partnership, will help to communicate news of the Fiction Uncovered promotion to its 900+ bricks-and-mortar independent bookselling members.

The Literary Consultancy helps writers at all stages of their careers, with a team of experienced editors and readers offering a critical reappraisal. Fiction Uncovered will refer writers to The Literary Consultancy if they’re looking for objective advice about their work.
